WHAT'S UP WITH YOUR BLOG?

I was asked that a couple weeks ago. My response was "Nothing to blog about." That pretty much sums up my Fall 2010 term at Art Center. I was denied loans for school. Since my roommate was going to London for school I had to move out of our apartment. With no money I had no choice but to move back to SD. I was down but not out. I decided to do a lite term and take 3 classes. I made a schedule that would allow me to live in SD and drive up to Pas 2 days a week. Let me tell you it wasn't horrible but it wasn't a cake walk either. It was my worst term at AC. I had no motivation. My grades show it too. I was still able to get a 3.0. I drove about 560 miles spending at least 8 hours of drive time a week. I clocked in over 8k miles last term. Here are some photos I took over the past 4 months.

First week of the term is over and my 7th term is starting out great. I ended up getting all the classes I wanted. Now I just need to find an apt somewhere in LA and I will be good. My classes this term are as follows

Intelectual Property : Course type: Social science elective
Description: Class will cover the basics of intellectual property law as it applies to designers & artists, including copyright, trademark, patent, publishing music rights, law of Advertising and more. Students will gain a basic understanding of intellectual property laws, and how to use them to protect their works and their rights in creating, licensing, and selling.

Digital Electronics:The leading edge of design is becoming increasingly high tech. Microprocessors are enabling designers to incorporate both sophisticated behaviors and intelligent user interfaces into their products. This Class will introduce students to a modern low cost microprocessor, the Arduino, and teach the core electronic sciences required to use it to control interactive design. This class assumes no prior knowledge of electronics, although students should have basic mathematical skills.

Intro to Robotics: Introduction to Robotics offers you the opportunity to explore the increasing role of automated mechanisms in our world and learn what it takes to build your own robots. This course is part survey, part technical application. Hands-on robot designing and building figures strongly as we encounter topics through team "design challenges," in which we see what makes up a robot and investigate ways to control them to do what we want.

Advanced GGraphics Studio 2: The overall intent and direction of each of the sections of this trio of courses is determined by the instructors who teach them. They, individually, bring different professional interests, experiences, and areas of expertise to each section. However, students can be assured that, as a group, all of these instructors are able to inform, direct, and mentor in a wide range of subject areas. While some instructors may take the traditional role of ?teacher?, others may prefer to act as design director, giving students a professional design office experience.

Graphic Design History 2: History of Graphic Design II is a thematic exploration of communication design in the 20th and 21st centuries. Themes range from the affect of the world wars on society and culture in the west; the cross-influences of the early 20th century avant garde, popular culture, and design; and the effect of new media on communication in the late 20th and early 21st centuries . Also discussed are the role of the designer in the shaping of society and culture and the question of a "design ethics."

While sitting in GD Hist 2 I realized that 4 of my 5 classes are only 12 weeks long. OS come finals week I should be good. I plan to blog this term so stay tuned to more updates.

THIS BLOG IS NOT DEAD

…I have just been on an extended vacation.

1800…well at least 1800 if not a lil more. Thats the amount of miles I have driven in the 3 weeks school has been in session. That's also at least 24 hours of drive time. When I last posted I was having troubles getting my third and final loan for school. If you haven't figured it out by now. I am back living at my mom's house in San Diego. I have class twice a week for a total of 3 classes, my first lite term. Even with taking a lite term I am still scheduled to graduate in 8 terms. Thank god for all the transfer credits I was able to get when I entered Art Center. I am just thankful that I am still able to attend AC.

Its going to be a rough term, due to the driving. So far it hasn't been that bad. I am pretty tired on the drive home. I did hit something coming back from school on Thursday night/Friday morning. I don't know what it is. Whatever it was it didn't mess up my car.

Anyways its week 3. I have classes on Tuesday's and Thursday's. I have Type and Authorship on Tuesday and then Identity and The Entrepreneurial Spirit on Thursdays.

It's weird being back in SD. I have had a couple of occasions to hang out with some friends. I feel like I went on vacation and changed, a lot. However my friends all stayed the same. Today when I was thinking about going out for food I was thinking about how my options would be different if I were in LA, wishing I was still there. I still have an LA life, its just lived before a 2 hour drive south.

I don't know if this term I will be making regular posts like I was the past couple of terms. You will have to wait and see. I wanted to let my blog know I was alive and get a post in.
