WEEK 9

Monday I decided to skip class so I could get my AOR midterm book going and finish up my silkscreen print done for Printmaking. After getting ready I headed over to South Campus to get some stuff. I needed some clear base to add to my brown layer. I also needed to go buy a squeegee as the one Jesse has was to small for my screen. A lil while after getting to school. Jesse, Frank and Eric were going to Mama's for lunch. I had never been and had been wanting to go for a while now. It was pretty good. After that I went down to McLogan's and got my 26" squeegee. After printing 2 layers and doing one spot of copper leaf I was finally done with my print. I didn't take any pics of my luchador print so you will have to wait for those. AOR would have to wait til tuesday.

Around 4 am I woke up to shaking. At first I thought it was the upstairs neighbors but soon figured out it was an earthquake. I was so tired that my first thought was to get up and get under the door frame, because it felt that bad. But then my tiredness kicked in and since I didn't hear anything crashing to the floor it wasn't big enough to seek cover, so I stayed in bed. Turns out the epicenter wasn't too far away from Pasadena.

That big red dot is the earthquake. It was like a 4.0.

My plan for Tuesday was to go to Printmaking and turn in my project then come home and work all day on my Art of Research midterm book. Tony had other plans as he decided it was a good day to give a lecture on alternative photo processes. The lecture was cool and I definitely want to try platinum and palladium prints but his lecture took all day which severely cut into my AOR homework. Needless to say when I got home from class not only was I tired but I had a shit load of work to do.

After working on this book til around 3:30 I was finally done, at least with the design. Now I had to print and then bind it. I was finally able to go to sleep around 5 to get a couple hours rest before my 8:30 class start time.

My book turned out pretty good and there was only one mistake I found. My presentation also went well. I think I am going to get a good grade in this class. After class I went home and went to bed. On the way home from school I saw the Qzilla truck. I had seen Ed and Dante talk about this truck on Facebook. When I finally saw the truck when I was hungry I had to bust a u and get some bbq. The meat was really tender but it could have used some more bbq sauce. I will definitely be getting more food from them soon.

After waking up I headed over to South Campus. It was scholarship review and I wanted to see what everyone had done. Some pretty good work this term.

After the review was over Jesse, Lizee and I met up with Elias from Admissions for dinner at Tony's Mexican restaurant. We sat outside in the cool air night. We had a good time and it was nice to eat outside for a change.

Thursday was a pretty slow day. I just worked on packaging until I had to go to school to laser cut my packaging box. I first needed to go to Blick to pick up some cardboard. Unfortunately they were out. Off to Sci-Arc to get some which totally screwed me up since the laser lab closes at 6. I got to school around 5:30. I stopped off at the print shop and cut down the cardboard. Then I parked my car and went to the cafeteria to do some work before the lecture.

Tonight's lecture was being given by Stefan Bucher. I have to say that this was the best lecture I had seen in a while. He was very funny and a great speaker. While walking over to the lecture I saw that the laser lab was still open. I was puzzled and then saw that being it was week 9 the laser lab now had extended times. I could have cut my stuff but it would have to wait til Friday.

Friday morning was Modernism. More of the same. I got my midterm paper back and I got a barely passing grade. Seeing as I did almost no readings I think I did ok. All I care is that I pass, grade doesn't matter.

After Modernism I went to the laser lab to cut my stuff. I finished before class and went back to the cafeteria to hang out. My project is turning out pretty good and with a couple more tweaks it will be good to go.

I got out of class early and was able to go home and chill for a lil while. Tonight was another party at the Mentone Manor. Frank and Brett picked Jesse and I up and we we were off. After the party all of us plus Eric went over to La Estrella for some much needed Mexican food.

Saturday I woke up and started working pretty much right away. I should have been working on Com Design 4 but instead was working on Packaging. Around 7 I started to wrap things up so I could head out to Malibu for Bianca's birthday party. She got a camp site just north of Malibu for the night. It was pretty chill and a great way to get away from schoolwork for a couple hours.

Sneak peak at my packaging project!

Sunday was more of the same. I woke up and started working. I did a lil Com Design before working on packaging. I am trying to get as much work done for this week because this weekend is the Y Conference down in San Diego and I am leaving Wednesday. Will be nice to get home. I haven't been there since January. I also went to Blick to get some spray paint for packaging.

Anyone want to go bombing?

The rest of the night was spent working and helping Jesse print his packaging stuff. He is doing dog food and is silkscreening on burlap bags.
