Attack of the Vuvuzela!
Chesley who I had for Type 3 was in covering for Leah and Tuesday's Font Design class. I think I accomplished a lot with his help. Hopefully Leah will think the same.
It's not abnormal to walk into an 8am class to see this.
Wednesday Jesse and I went out to grab lunch before I had class. Nothing fancy just some Chipotle. After that I went over to Kinko's to get a print done for info design. Info Design today was like the other a couple in class exercises which were interesting. Tonight's Business 101 was the first class since the change over. The first part of the class was taught by Errol Gerson, who taught us basic business. Now it's being taught by Petrula Vrontikis who will be teaching us business from a graphic designer's viewpoint. However tonight we were having a 3x3 lecture in place of class. The designers speaking tonight were Art Center's own Sean Adams with Tom Devine and Terry Lee Stone. The talk was interesting with a full house to boot. After the lecture we were supposed to go to the black boar but no one showed besides Frank, Eric, Jesse and I. Instead we went over to this pizza place across the street. Brett ended up joining us. Dinner was pretty good and cheap!
What happens when someone hijacks your phone.
I love the look on my face here.
Thursday I decided to take the day off. Tony the printmaking genius had told me about an Aztec exhibition going on at the Getty Villa. He told me about it during last term and I was never able to make it out there during the break. Since it was going to be closing next week, I just had to make it out there. Esmelda joined me on the trip out to Malibu.
The Getty Villa is beautiful and if you haven't been there you must go. The main exhibition was on the greeks and romans. The exhibition was nice but I was there for the Aztec stuff. I still took lots of pics as you can imagine.
Some great heads and masks
I was a little pissed that when I got to the Aztec exhibition that it was not as large as the Greek and Roman stuff and I wasn't able to take photos. I did buy the exhibition catalog. Anyways the Aztec exhibition was awesome. The prints and books were amazing. I want to go to Mexico and scavenger for old books. By the time we finished looking at all the stuff and buying books in the gift shop it was time to leave. The museum closes at 5 and they couldn't wait to kick us out.
All I was able to get.
From there we stopped at got a bite to eat at Duke which was on the coast. I don't know why I didn't take any pics probably because I was mesmerized by it. I could stare at the ocean for hours. After dinner it was time to head back to the real world.
Nothing says California like palm trees!
Some weird distortion going on with my iphone at high speeds.
Looks like we are going up a hill
Friday morning I woke up bright and early to get my editorial homework done. I had till 4:20 since we had individual crits. I have to say that today was the most helpful class of the term. After class Eric, Frank and Roy came over to the pad for some drinks. Then we all went out to dinner at the Counter. This place is hidden in Pasadena and has some delicious burgers. My carne asada burger was bomb and some of the best carne I have had.
A model jumping on a trampolin? Just another day at Art Center.
After dinner it was back to the house for more drinks. Z stopped by too. The couch has some kind of voodoo over it because almost anyone who sits on it falls asleep. Not only did Eric fall asleep but Z did too.
Saturday was a pretty laid back day. Frank came over in the afternoon so that we could do some group homework together. After that we went and got some frozen yogurt at Cherry on Top. That was pretty much my Saturday.
Sunday I woke up and was pretty lazy all day. In the evening I took a friend to the Burbank Airport. After that I went home and got started on homework for AGS in the morning.
