Monday's AGS went ok. I need to start designing stuff. Class got out early and Frank, Jesse, Eric Hu and I all went to the cafeteria to get some grub. After that I needed to get my letters scanned in for font design. I headed over to the library first. I figured that the computer lab's scanner might be taken. Unfortunately I think everyone else had the same idea because all the scanners were in use. I then headed over to the labs to find that the scanner there was open. Anyways I scanned my sketch then headed home. Once home I took a nice nap like always!
Tuesday's font design went well. I got my laptop set up to Leah's standards so that I could start digitizing my sketches. I got a decent amount of work done in class before it was time to leave. After class I headed over to the laser lab to cut out some circles for my homework in info design. I had to do an abstract representation of my 100 collected pieces of garbage. I then broke that down into the amount that was drank between Jesse and I.
When I went home Jesse was up and about. He wasn't feeling well and didn't make it to font design. He was hungy and so was I. We went to get some burgers at Jake's on Colorado in Old Town. After eating we went to Vroman's and picked up some magazines. I had to make one final stop before we headed home. Since my info poster needed type and I would be placing my circles on the fridge I needed more magnetic letters. There is an educational store on Colorado which was on the way home. They had exactly what I needed.
Once home I was going to take a nice long nap then get started on my info and then write a one page paper for business. Super easy work! A little while after getting home Jesse found out from Chris Chan that there was this show that was gonna be at this place called the Bordello and that it should be a good one. I was tired so I definitely needed a nap if a show was in my future. After a quick nap it was time to leave. Bordello is in downtown near skid row in the industrial area where there isn't a lot near by. The venue was pretty dope. I wish I could have taken pictures but it was pretty dark. I made the comment that in the light this place probably looks cheesy as hell but in the dark it had a great vibe to it. Once we had gotten drinks we saw some booth seating that was open right next to the stage and quickly swooped in to claim our spots for the evening. There was only one act performing tonight and that was Blake Mills. I had never heard of him before but some people that would be playing or were supposed to be playing I had. Mike Einzinger the guitarist from Incubus and Flea from Red Hot Chilli Peppers would be jamming along side him. He is a pretty dam good guitarist. His music was decent since I wasn't familiar with him. It was great seeing him perform in such an intimate venue with an even more intimate crowd. When Mike came up on stage to play you could feel the love pour out in their performance. Something I haven't really seen at even my most favorite of shows and concerts. Unfortunately Flea was a no show. The show regardless was still a great one. Everything made it very memorable.
Wednesday I woke up fairly early. I figured I needed two hours to get my homework done, an hour for each class. I love when my calculations are correct because it took pretty close to that amount of time. Creating the poster took some time and writing the paper while leisurely browser the web was smooth sailing.
Info seems like it's always going to be an interesting class. In class we had to unpack something and then display it. In other words make something invisible, visible. I had the idea of unpacking soda and spilling it on a long piece of butcher paper. That idea was then chosen in my group and it evolved into taking juice and painting with it. We displayed the types of ingredients on the paper. It sucked working in a group with 5 people but we somehow got it done in the 2 hours we were given.
Thursday was a pretty lazy day. I didn't get started on my editorial homework until about 10 pm. I got it all done before I went to bed.
Friday's editorial class wasn't anything new. Class got out early since everyone was hungry we made some plans to go get some grub. Since Jesse was still in class we decided to wait till he was out before we went to eat. Frank, Eric Hu, Paul, Jesse and I were planning to go get some Pho. Frank headed home to take a nap before we went out. Paul stayed at school and Eric and I headed back to my pad to hang out till later. We headed over to Alhambra to Golden Deli around 7:30. Whne we got there we called Frank and Paul. Frank slept through his alarm and didn't answer his phone till after we had started eating. Paul flaked and Jesse decided he didn't want to go. So it was just Eric and I. While waiting for them to call our number Miguel called me. We decided to eat then go pick him up. This was my first time having Pho. I have to say it was delicious! Anyways after eating we made our way over to Venice. From there we went to Seven Grand in downtown. It's got this hunting lodge with an upscale feel to it. Right away we made our way over to the bar. While I was ordering drinks I heard this familiar voice behind me. I turned around and couldn't tell if it was actually someone I knew. It was dark and she had her hair back. It turns out that it was someone I knew. It was Ellen who was in my Art of Research class last term. She was there with her husband and a friend. She immediately said that she didn't feel so bad being out and not doing homework that she saw someone from school out too. We talked briefly before our drinks arrived and we made our way around the bar.
Eric also spotted someone he thought he knew and sure enough he did. This group of people had more and more art center alums joining throughout the night. It was nice to meeting all of them. After a couple drinks it was last call. The night flew by. Waiting outside was a taco truck and after a night of drinking Mexican food is a must. After eating and more shenanigans it was time to go home.
A face only a mother could love
When I see this pic I imagine Fonzy from Happy Days saying "Heeeeey!"
After the club we be grubbin. I think Weird Al needs to do a remake of Ice Cube's "We be Clubbin"
Saturday morning after waking up I got a call that our new stove was waiting outside our door. The company delivering it was supposed to call me the night before but of course they didn't. Anyways I go to the door to see no one there. After a while someone showed up and took our dead stove away and installed our new one. Pretty snazzy. Anyways the rest of the day was spent working on AGS. I didn't get anywhere but hopefully when I get back to it I can manage to get something decent for class.
Sunday morning I woke up bright and early. Today Frank and I were heading over to our business teacher's place for coffee and chat. Errol is an amazing teaching and it was a nice treat to hang out and talk with him Sunday morning. We I got back to the house I decide that I could use a nap. Now it's 8pm and I need to get some work done for AGS in the morning.
