Type made from a sheet for Com Design
On Monday when I got home from class I was pleasently surprised with a box waiting on my doorstep. I wasn't expecting anything so I couldn't figure out what it was. Then once I opened it I had remembered the paper swatches I ordered during the break. Arjo-Wiggins paper to be exact. Their Curious Collections paper is pretty cool.
Archetype is by far my favorite class this term. My next project is a group book. We each have our own spread. The theme of the book is the moon. I am doing my spread based on an Aztec myth poem about how they built Mexico City on the Lake of the Moon. I was surprised my teacher selected the idea she did. Out of the three I felt it was the most graphic and least letter pressy concept. However it was the idea I was most excited about since it is so graphic. Here is just a tease of the concept especially since this is the first rough. So it should end up being a bit different in the end. The black will be silk screened.
My first completed print in Archetype
Alexis brought in Tarot Cards and most everyone in the class had their cards read even Gloria.
Alexis with her dog made of candy that represents how Americans eat 25 lbs of candy a year, which is equivalent to the size of a small dog.
Swastikas that I found in Archetype. To think of what these have seen in their life. Gloria said they were indeed from Germany.
Joanne came over on Wednesday to get some help with her packaging class. We had to learn how to play this game she is redesigning the packaging for. It's called Thurn and Taxis. A game from Germany based on postal routes. Kind of like Risk but about mail. Anyways I won because I am the best.
She was mad because I was winning.
Thursday was my second time going to Arcadia H.S. This time my schedule is finalized. My first class is a Design 1 and then my next two classes are photography classes. The teachers are quite different. I have a feeling I am going to really enjoy helping out in the photo class.
Today I met up with Jimmy, Chris and Jimmy's friend who I can't recall his name at the moment down in Newport Beach. Pretty nice area and it was nice to get away from Pasadena and homework for a couple hours. We got some lunch and played some pool. It was good times.
