The first week is orientation and today was as boring as yesterday was. I walked out of the financial aid talk. I had to go to my car and I figured then was as good a time as any. On the way back I stopped into admissions. Jesse was working in the office. I then proceeded to waste more time before going back to orientation by going to the cafeteria. By the time we walked over to the auditorium orientation was over.
After orientation there was an explore L.A. Trip put on by the office of student life. Out of like 150 entering students only 6 decided to go. It was a fun trip. I met some cool people from fine arts, transportation, and illustration who went on the trip.
That's Emily shes a photo major from Baltimore and Kuran he's a transportation design major from U.K./India.
That's Jory he's from Chicago and is an illustration major and that's the bum that accompanied us.
That's Eric with Jory. Eric is a graphic design major too. He's from Hysperia, Ca.
We traveled on the Pasadena ARTS bus down to the Gold Line of the Metro. From there we proceeded down to Union Station and then across to Olvera St. Its funny it didn't look the same as I remembered it, then again I was only 13 the last time I was there. After getting a bite to eat, Mexican food of course. We walked around looking at all the Mexican goods. Picture the trinkets you can buy in the wait to cross the boarder.
We were supposed to go to some old market where they sell lots of stuff but we saw one of those double decker tour buses. After talking down the ticket price from $15 to $5 we decided to take the hour long tour around down town L.A. In true L.A. fashion a bum decided he wanted to take the tour as well and proceeded to join our group on the top level of the bus. I had been around most of the areas the hour long tour covered but it was cool to see it from that high up angle.
After that it was time to make the trek back to Art Center. After getting home I went to run some errands. Bed, Bath and Beyond, Best Buy (got a spiffy aluminum apple keyboard), Plummers (need some furniture for my new pad), then finally to Ralph's. Today was a long day. Tomorrow should be just as long even though orientation doesn't start 'til 1pm.
