end of week three

On Saturday for Type 4 I had to visit some museums. In hindsight I really didn't have to but it did make a difference in what I ended up choosing. The project is a term long trans-media approach to type. I ended up choosing the Museum of Latin American Art which goes by the Moola. That's the first thing that I need to change. Anyways this museum was down in Long Beach. It was the second stop of my 2 stop tour of LA. The first was the Center for Land Use Interpretation. It was pretty interesting but a very small space. The main exhibit of the 3 I think that were in there had to do with the oil industry and its development across Texas. It was interesting but I didn't really understand what they were trying to say. Back to Moola. I was pleasntly surprised at how nice the museum was. It was a decent sized space and had some great art. I even purchased a couple books.

The books I bought: photo book on Dia De Los Muertos Altars, A DDLM book and a book on religion and art. For someone who hates reading I am amassing a pretty intense book collection.

After that I had seen a rally's so I had to make a stop. Most of the ones down in San Diego had been closed down. Their fries are the best if you have never tried them before.

On Monday we started presenting research in Com Design. I brought in my camera to take some pics for the blog that was started. My project which is a term long project like Type will be based upon three words. Those words are disappearance, immersion and limit. I had this crazy dream that lead me to come up with the concept of dreams for my theme based upon my words. More on this as the term goes on.

One of the many great things about Art Center is the lectures that take place. The first lecture that I have been to this term was put together by my boy Nico. He was able to get Collabo to come. They describe themselves as VJ's but not the kind from MTV. They are like DJ's but with video. They are also doing a workshop on Saturday and Sunday. I wasn't really sure what they did I just knew they did visuals for concerts like HARD. I am really interested in the workshop they are putting on but I just don't have the time to give to that. On Oct 2nd the work created in the workshop will be shown at a party on the roof at South Campus. It should be pretty sweet.

On Wednesday I finished my first Archetype project. Here are some teasers for now since I wasn't able to cut down my prints.

Then on Thursday was another lecture. The boys from Dress Code gave a great lecture on their rise to success. I need to get their book.

Oh I also found out that I will have a 9am-12pm block at Arcadia High for the High School Mentorship Program. I am really stoked on that and can't wait 'til next week.

On Saturday I am planning on going to the Red Bull Soapbox Derby. It should be a lot of fun. Until next time...

Almost forgot about this. On Saturday when I made my way out to the museums. As I was getting into my car to leave home. I saw a grasshopper on my window. It somehow managed to stay on my car from Pas to Cuver City and then down to Long Beach. Around LAX he bailed on me. It was a pretty adventurous ride. I managed to take some pics and video of his journey.

That's when I thought he was a goner for sure. Somehow he managed to fly off the window visor to underneath it. If I hadn't seen it myself I would have never guessed.

This was part of his wild ride before he left me on the 405 South.
